Peter Houston was delighted with the response of his side as they comfortably defeated Kilmarnock 4-2 at Tannadice.

Two goals from leading scorer David Goodwillie and one apiece from Scott Severin and Craig Conway saw the weakened hosts bounce back well from their midweek defeat to Rangers.

“Our win was thoroughly merited. We got sloppy in the last 20 minutes or so, but up to then I thought we had a great performance,” Houston told BBC Scotland. “The players bounced back after the defeat by Rangers. We were 4-0 up after half-time. I’ll take that every week.

“We played particularly well in the first half,” he continued. “We knew at half-time they’d come out at us, but we went at them again and got two quick goals in the second half.

“Once we went 4-0 up, we maybe got a bit sloppy, but I’m delighted to get the win and the performance as well.”
