Peter Houston reckons the football authorities in Scotland should consider a change to summer football after both sides were blown off course in the scoreless draw at Motherwell.

Heavy winds and driving rain made conditions really difficult as the contest struggled to amount to anything on a disappointing afternoon.

“We’ve got to start thinking about summer football again,” Houston told BBC Scotland. “It gets to the stage where it’s not good for Scottish football to play in this weather.

“I feel sorry for both sets of players. I was certainly telling my players not to take risks around our box,” he added. “What you had was two teams who were working ever so hard to cancel each other out. Probably 0-0 was a fair result.

“We’re trying to bring fans back to football – we’ll certainly drive a few away with that game!”
