Every goalless draw in the SPL is inevitably labelled as a “Bore Draw” by the Scottish press, but this was never the case at Tannadice on Saturday.

Dundee United and Hibernian might have struggled to find the back of the net, but it was an afternoon when the defences and goalkeepers definitely earned their moneys worth.

In the 2nd half especially, both United manager Craig Levein and Hibs manager John Collins went all out for the win – throwing almost everyone upfront, as the tempo of the match increased and the ball pinged from one penalty box to another.

Both sides looked hungry, but lacked that final touch infront of goal – as Hibernian searched for their 3rd win on the trot and Dundee United attempted to put Monday night`s controversial 2-1 defeat by Kilmarnock behind them.

“It was like a game of basketball for a while,” joked Craig Levein to the BBC after the final whistle.

“All credit to all players who took the field today, because I think it was a highly entertaining match, particularly in the 2nd half.”

“When the game opened up in the 2nd half, both teams were all out attack at times and there was no midfield on either side.”

“In general, against a very good attacking Hibs team, we snuffed them out for long periods.”

“Hibs, for me, are as good an attacking team as there is in the league, so we were opened up a couple of times and needed our goalkeeper to make some fantastic saves.”

“Our goalkeeper was excellent today, infact both goalkeepers were excellent”

Levein has been very impressed by the work effort of all his players in recent matches, even after going down to 10-men against Aberdeen and Kilmarnock.

The players look fitter and sharper than ever, after the gruelling pre-season training sessions, but its meant they now have the energy to play right to the final whistle.

Levein continued – “We are going strong in the last 10minutes of the match, we are very fit and that`s something the players can take pride in – they`ve work extremely hard.”

“As long as I see that kind of commitment, I`ll be happy and I`m pretty sure the supporters will be happy as well.”
