A brace of second-half goals from Billy King witnessed leaders Dundee United keeping up the pace at the top of the Scottish Championship.

The 23-year-old winger made the breakthrough after just over an hour before adding his second of the contest deep into stoppage-time.

Midfielder Fraser Fyvie struck wide for the visitors early on while Scott McDonald could only locate goalkeeper Derek Gaston.

Gary Oliver replied narrowly off-target after Fyvie had lost possession – although both the former Hibs schemer and Scott McDonald were to challenge Gaston again prior to the break.

However, on loan keeper Harry Lewis was required to superbly deny Robert Thomson’s header following Ross Forbes’ early second-half cross.

The busy Scott Fraser then went down under challenge inside the opposite area, until King despatched a tremendous 61st minute opener beyond Gaston.

But a careless back-pass from United left-back Jamie Robson soon allowed Jai Quitongo to waste an opportunity to equalise with only Lewis left to beat.

The visitors still went close to another late on as McDonald was initially charged down before Paul McMullan forced the keeper to block.

And in added time they extended their lead on the break, with Fyvie allowing King to claim his second of the game courtesy of a low finish.
