Former Dundee United striker David Goodwillie appears set to join Blackpool on loan from English Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old recently finished a loan spell at Tannadice after six goals in 22 appearances and was on the bench for Rovers’ 4-1 weekend defeat at Nottingham Forest.

However, Barry Ferguson is looking to increase his options having being named as new player-manager at Blackpool following the sacking of Paul Ince.

Goodwillie previously made a £2m switch from United to Blackburn in August 2011, but has since been restricted to just ten starts in his 34 appearances and scored five goals.
