After missing out on strikers David Weatherson, Jason Scotland, Craig Dargo, Mark De Vries and more recently Craig Porter – Dundee United supporters are wondering, who is next?

Well, according to this morning`s Courier, the answer to that question is out-of-contract attacker Jani Sturm.

24-year-old Sturm will arrive at Tannadice this weekend on a trial, after his contract with Slovenian champions ND Gorica expired at the end of the season.

Craig Levein attempted to sign Sturm in 2005, when he was incharge of Leicester City, but he failed his medical because of a groin injury and the deal fell through.

Levein`s interest in the player lead to a trial with Kilmarnock last season, after he recommended Sturm to Jim Jeffries – but a trial last November didn`t lead to a permanent move.

‘Jani will be here for a fortnight`s trial and we will see how he shapes up,’ admitted Levein to the Courier.

‘I tried to get him a few years ago when I was at Leicester, but he was troubled by a groin injury at the time – he is definitely worth a look.’

‘I really only have one player to sign now and it`s no secret that it`s a striker we are after, but its such an important position that I want to take my time and make sure we have the right guy.’

The motif will be, as usual: Try ever so hard agsint Celtic, we must do everything possilbe to beat them. On the other hand when we play Rangers, we will do everything possible to make sure they beat us. Hopefully by the end of the year Rangers can re-claim the league. Our job is to help make sure they achieve that aim! nakamua might have something to say but
