Dundee United Chairman Eddie Thompson has been greatly encouraged by advanced season ticket sales, as supporters bought early to take advantage of cheaper prices and to guarantee their tickets for the glamour friendly against Barcelona next months.
Season ticket sales received an early boost with the news that Frank Rijkaard`s side were due to visit Tannadice at the end of July, but since the friendly sold out, sales have still been going strong.
“The Early Bird prices have proved to be a considerable success, with sales well ahead of both prior year and forecasts to date,” admitted Chairman Eddie Thompson last week.
“We originally thought that the increase in early sales might only have been as a result of fans buying as they purchased their briefs for the Barcelona match.”
“However, despite the ‘sell out` situation for this game against Barcelona, the demand for season tickets has continued unabated.”
“Despite finishing in only 9th place in the SPL last season, there is undoubtedly an underlying optimism with United fans for next season which we haven`t felt for a number of years.”
“Clearly, the fans are putting their faith behind the Manager to take the Club forward to a new level in his first full season with the Club.”
If Eddie’s happy we are all happy!
