Midfielder Scott Fraser could be given a shock return against Inverness Caledonian Thistle this weekend.

The 22-year-old has resumed full training having been out of action since late December.

Fraser subsequently underwent surgery for a fractured foot and was originally expected to miss the rest of the campaign.

But manager Csaba Laszlo confirmed to the Dundee Courier: “Scott has trained with the team fully. He had been training with the development team but now he has been with the first team for two days.

“Normally, he can be in the squad against Inverness,” he continued. “Maybe I will put him on the bench, maybe not. It depends on how he feels and I will see. The injury is over.”

Should the playmaker return it would come as a massive boost to United, who moved back up to third in the Championship after winning at Queen of the South in midweek.

The Tangerines are still awaiting international clearance on new defender Bilel Mohsni, although Celtic loanee Anthony Ralston is available for selection.

Meanwhile, Grant Gillespie is another in contention, but Danish forward Emil Lyng continues his recovery.
