Craig Levein was delighted to announce yesterday that Caley Thistle captain Darren Dods has signed a pre-contractual agreement with Dundee United.
The 31-year-old defender has agreed to a 2-year deal, which will see him join Dundee United on the 1st of June.
The former Hibernian and St Johnstone player joined Caley Thistle in July 2004, with Levin believing he has the experience and leadership qualities which can bolster his team’s backline.
“I am pleased to announce that Darren Dods has agreed a two-year deal with us, as he will bring exactly the type of experience we require,” said Levein.
“Darren will also bring solidity to the defence and his leadership qualities are well known and will benefit the team as a whole.”
“Looking to the future, we have a number of very young players in the team and experience is not only required to help them develop, but is vital to the success of any side.”
Dundee United have been chasing Darren Dods since last season, with former manager Craig Brewster unable to convince the veteran defender to join the club last summer.
However, Levein appears to have succeeded where Brewster failed and Dods will now become a United player in the summer, after his contract with Caley Thistle expires.
