Dundee United kept up the pressure on the leaders with a 3-0 victory against Livingston at Tannadice.

The Tangerines forged ahead courtesy of Paul McMullan midway through the opening half.

Striker Scott McDonald increased their advantage prior to the interval before McMullan added his second late on.

Billy King also missed a penalty for the home side.

After Jackson Longridge hoisted over for the visitors, McMullan drove through a crowded area to open the scoring when Tam Scobbie headed back King’s corner.

Goalscorer McMullan went close to another, although it was leading goalscorer McDonald soon tapping in Jamie Robson’s cross towards the far post.

Home midfielder Fraser Fyvie then limped off before the unmarked Longridge headed wide for the visitors prior to the interval.

King had a shot deflected over following the restart, and also delivered for McMullan to force goalkeeper Gary Maley into desperate action.

Keeper Maley then brought down McDonald inside the area, but instantly redeemed himself by denying King’s spot-kick.

However, King’s later strike was only parried by Maley and McMullan promptly doubled his tally for the afternoon.
