Dundee United are back on top of the Championship after a 2-1 victory against Dunfermline Athletic at Tannadice.

Scott Fraser scored both goals prior to the interval before Declan McManus replied from a penalty with fifteen minutes remaining.

Both Sam Stanton and Kallum Higginbotham had threatened at the respective ends of the pitch before United’s Scott McDonald delayed when another opportunity presented itself.

However, Fraser curled a great 15th minute free-kick beyond the defensive wall and into the top corner to open the scoring.

Higginbotham soon turned over a McManus cross at the other end, where on loan goalkeeper Harry Lewis was also called into action by Lee Ashcroft.

With the interval soon approaching, Fraser then swept through the visitors’ defence and slid in his second of the afternoon.

He almost had a hat-trick when keeper Sean Murdoch parried following another break, although it was late in the contest when McManus netted from the spot after substitute Fraser Aird was fouled by Jamie Robson.
