Danny Cadamarteri was on target but Dundee United’s final pre-season friendly ended in a 3-1 defeat at Tannadice after Argentine Mauro Boselli led the visitors along the victory trail with two goals and Victor Moses added a splendid third late on.

David Goodwillie drove straight at Latics’ on loan keeper Ali Al-Habsi while Boselli tested Dusan Pernis at his near post at the opposite end during the early exchanges.

Home striker Damian Casalinuovo was then denied by Al-Habsi after being sent clear before also turning a good chance wide at the far post, although it was the visitors who took the lead on 34 minutes as Boselli received Hugo Rodallega’s pass and made no mistake from ten-yards.

Wigan duly increased their advantage early in the second period with Boselli heading his second of the afternoon from close-range before Al-Habsi parried a header from Jon Daly after fellow Arab substitute Craig Conway had offered the cross.

And with eight minutes remaining Moses crashed in a superb third for the visitors from 20-yards via the underside of the crossbar after collecting Boselli’s assist.

But two minutes later Cadamarteri dipped a 25-yard attempt over the keeper for a late consolation, while Jennison Myrie-Williams almost matched his effort when shaking the crossbar in the final minute.
