Thomas Mikkelsen claimed a second-half equaliser as Dundee United dropped home points in a 1-1 draw with Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

The visitors led at the interval after Iain Vigurs headed in from close-range.

But Danish striker Mikkelsen later deflected Billy King’s cross-shot past goalkeeper Mark Ridgers.

Caley’s George Oakley should have done better when released early on – but instead allowed on loan Harry Lewis to make a comfortable save.

However, when Liam Polworth delivered a corner on the half-hour, Vigurs promptly headed the visitors in front.

The hosts withdrew Paul Quinn at the interval and replaced him with Scott McDonald; although Joe Chalmers called Lewis into action before Mikkelson replied wide of the mark.

But Mikkelsen later diverted in King’s delivery nineteen minutes into the second period.

Willo Flood then went close from distance as Ridgers fended away, while substitute Paul McMullan was similarly denied after threatening the top corner.
