A second consecutive 2-0 defeat – this time to visitors Inverness Caledonian Thistle – witnessed Dundee United conceding further ground towards the top of the Championship.

Iain Vigurs opened the scoring around the half-hour with a deflected effort from the edge of the area after Willo Flood failed to clear from a corner.

Caley’s John Baird had already gone close a couple of times while Scott McDonald was denied at the other end by keeper Mark Ridgers following Fraser Fyvie’s neat pass.

But Connor Bell then added a second goal for the visitors after Jake Mulraney delivered. On loan home keeper Harry Lewis also thwarted Carl Tremarco.

His opposite number Ridgers later turned over from James Keatings and substitute Billy King also had an attempt deflected behind – but there was to be no recovery.
