Dundee United manager Craig Levein will neither confirm, or deny, the speculation linking him with a move for Dundee`s Paul Dixon.

The 21-year-old left-back played 25 times for Dundee this season, as Alex Rae`s side narrowly missed out on promotion from the 1st division.

United defender Christain Kalvenes looks certain to return home to Norway when his contract expires in the summer, leaving Craig Levein with only Danny Grainger in the left-back position.

That could prompt Levein to make a move for the rated Scottish-born Dixon, who is planning to leave Dens Park under freedom of contract now that Dundee`s season is over.

‘I’ll need to look for cover for Danny ahead of next season, but I’m working on other things at the moment, ‘ Levein told the Daily Record.
