Managerless Dundee United are searching for a first victory in three games when visiting Dumbarton this afternoon.

Caretaker boss Laurie Ellis takes over following the departure of Ray McKinnon earlier this week.

The Tangerines have a doubt over former Hibernian midfielder Fraser Fyvie after receiving a knock against Inverness Caledonian Thistle last weekend.

Meanwhile, Dutchman Jordie Briels is already ruled out with a hip problem.

“Fraser has just been getting treatment all week really,” Ellis told the Dundee Evening Telegraph. “He’s been doing a little bit of light work and progressing but that’s going to be a close call.

“Jordie’s got a slightly deeper problem, so we’re looking at addressing that,” he added. “Jordie’s been good for us this season. He’s had lots of energy that’s been missed and we won’t have him available.”

Scott Fraser could though be recalled having recently recovered from a broken foot.

Christian Nade and David Smith remain sidelined for the hosts along with Danny Handling and Grant Gallagher. But Stuart Carswell has returned to training.
