Dundee United have failed with an appeal over defender Barry Douglas’ recent sending-off in the defeat to Ross County.

Douglas was dismissed by referee Kevin Clancy following his challenge on County goalscorer Ivan Sproule.

Manager Jackie McNamara had later contested that he didn’t even believe the incident warranted a yellow card.

However, the 23-year-old former Queen’s Park full-back must now serve the customary two-match ban.
