The first Dundee derby in seven years has Dundee United entertaining their local rivals at Tannadice on Sunday lunchtime (kick-off 12.45pm).

Manager Peter Houston has injury concerns over key forward duo Gary Mackay-Steven and Johnny Russell, together with central defensive pair Sean Dillon and Gavin Gunning, going into the game.

The Terrors have already defeated their fiercest rivals 3-0 in a recent pre-season friendly but Houston was certainly taking nothing for granted and expecting a really tough challenge.

“We’re preparing ourselves for nothing other than a very tough derby match,” Houston told BBC Sport. “Make no mistake, we are going up against a team who will give it everything and get stuck in right from the start.

“So, in turn, we will have to make sure we do exactly the same because derbies can sometimes come down to who wants to win them most on the day,” he added. “We are under no illusions about this game and will be giving Dundee every respect.”

Dundee are themselves without midfielders Kevin McBride and Nicky Riley, plus striker Carl Finnigan. But new signing Martin Boyle should make his debut as the visitors seek their first win back in the top-flight.
