Weekend saviour Jon Daly said that David Goodwillie’s opener against Motherwell was one of the goals of the season.

Daly watched on as a substitute as Goodwillie levelled with an acrobatic overhead kick before later coming on to himself claim a second equaliser in the 2-2 draw.

“It has got to be up there for one of the goals of the season,” Daly told BBC Scotland. “It’s a good ball in from Keith Watson and he’s somehow watched it all the way over the boy’s head – the boy has nearly got a header on it. It is the kind of goal that only a player like him can score.”

But it still later required Daly to snatch an equaliser moments after Motherwell had restored their lead.

“I was happy it has hit the net and to score so soon after they scored gave the fans and players a great lift,” he added.
