Dundee United had the chance to leap-frog into 4th place this weekend, after a 3rd consecutive league victory over Inverness Caley Thistle at Tannadice.
A 40th minute strike from Jon Daly and a 64th minute header from captain Lee Wilkie were enough to give United a deserved 2-1 win over Craig Brewster`s Inverness side.
If other results had gone in Dundee United`s favour, then Craig Levein`s side would have ended the afternoon in 4th place in the SPL, just behind 3rd place Hearts.
However, late goals from Kilmarnock`s Craig Bryson (2-1 win against Hearts) and Hibernian`s Derek Riordan (2-1 win against Aberdeen) pushed United back into 6th in the table, but that is still an impressive comeback after the club`s poor start to the campaign.
Dundee United struggled through the opening 5 matches of the season, winning just 2 points out of a possible 15, including disappointing defeats from Hamilton, Kilmarnock and Hibernian.
A crucial 1-0 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie a fortnight ago, was the confidence boost that the United players needed and it was followed by a 2-0 victory over Airdrie United in the League Cup and a fantastic 3-0 win over on-form Hearts.
With Celtic beating 7th placed Hamilton this weekend, United`s 2-1 win means that the club overtakes both Caley Thistle and Hamilton in the table.
The only question now is…. can Dundee United continue the revival with a 4th win SPL win in-a-row against Rangers at Ibrox in 2 weeks?

There’s no reason why Dundee United cant win at Ibrox… unless the referee decides otherwise!
United have got a good squad, a good manager and are on a run at the moment… Rangers beware!
sounded a tough game but you came through it to take 3 points.
