Manager Jackie McNamara paid tribute to match-winner Chris Erskine following the 2-1 victory against Ross County.

Substitute Erskine struck a late winner to add to Nadir Ciftci’s first-half opener at Tannadice.

That leaves United currently third in the table and just a point behind early leaders Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

“It was good for Chris to come on and get the winner,” McNamara told BBC Scotland. “His attitude has been spot on, I think he’s got every case to bang my door on Monday morning and demand a start.

“Having scored the first goal, I thought it was disappointing to lose the equaliser on the break,” he added. “We were always pushing forward, but I thought it was a good match.”
