Dundee United top scorer Johnny Russell is currently being pursued by three clubs from the top half of the English Championship.

Russell still has a year remaining on his present deal but had earlier expressed a preference for moving abroad following Italian Serie ‘A’ side Catania failing with three separate bids.

Meanwhile, English duo Huddersfield Town and Sheffield United have also shown definite interest in the past, with the former having a £1.25m double bid for Russell and winger Gary Mackay-Steven turned down in August.

United chairman Stephen Thompson has already held discussions with representatives of a Championship club last week with a fee of around £700,000 suggested as being mentioned.

Russell netted twenty times in 38 appearances last season despite missing two months of it with a broken fibula sustained in late February.
