The city of Dundee will be under the spotlight once again next month, as Spanish giants Barcelona descend on Tannadice Park with some of the best players in Europe.

Dundee United invited the Catalan club back to the city, after the successful pre-season exhibition match between the two sides last year.

Players like Ronaldinho, Deco, Xavi, Puyol and Thierry Henry were matched up against the likes of Lee Wilkie, Darren Dods, Noel Hunt and Barry Robson in a thrilling match that was shown live across Europe on the Setanta Sport channel.

Unfortunately, United were unable to retain their unbeaten record against Barca, with Henry scoring his 1st goal for his new club, in the closing stages.

Although, the Tannadice club want another bite at the cherry and will once again play hosts to Barcelona, on the 26th of July.

Barcelona have been linked with several of the top performers in Euro 2008, including Russian striker Andrei Arshavin, who many have already named as player of the tournament.

The Spanish side could have several new faces in the side to play Dundee United, but it’s likely to be an exciting match no matter which big names appear on the Barcelona team sheet.

(Barcelona are also set to face Hibernian during their brief pre-season tour of Scotland)
