Dundee United boss Peter Houston won’t hesitate to switch skipper Jon Daly into the back four again when he believes it necessary.

Daly was moved to centre-back as his side ended a run of four straight league defeats against Aberdeen at the weekend.

That follows the Tangerines’ defence shipping seven goals in their previous two games against Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Hearts.

However, the 29-year-old Irishman could still revert back to his usual centre-forward position against St Mirren at the weeekend.

“Horses for courses, I’ll mix it up,” Houston told the Sporting Life. “He’s a threat, but I felt we needed him at the back to keep a bit of solidity, win the balls against (Scott) Vernon.

“Next week against St Mirren he might be up top,” he added.
