Now joint-leaders of the Championship, Dundee United are on their travels to Ayr United this afternoon.

Striker Simon Murray could be recalled to the starting line-up after his major impact as a substitute in the latest victory over title rivals Hibernian.

Meanwhile, Lewis Toshney is set to continue at right-back in place of Frank van der Struijk, with Jamie Robson again covering on the opposite flank for Paul Dixon – although he should soon return following a knee injury.

The Tangerines are unbeaten in eleven games but manager Ray McKinnon was urging some caution and expecting a tough encounter.

“We’ve had them watched several times and I watched them at Brechin,” he told the Dundee Evening Telegraph. “I’m not sure how they will set up but they are a decent side when they’re on song. It’s a tough game for us but, hopefully, we can keep the momentum going and the belief.”

The hosts have Paul Cairney returning from a two-game suspension but Peter Murphy is doubtful and Craig Moore [head injury] still out.
