Dundee United are missing too many of their flair players to be especially entertaining according to manager Peter Houston.

The Arabs are currently without winger Craig Conway and midfielder Danny Swanson, but were still good enough to record a third successive victory in all competitions against Kilmarnock at the weekend.

And their latest success moved them up into fourth place in the table and only a couple of points behind Motherwell.

“We are missing flair players – Craig Conway and Danny Swanson,” Houston admitted to BBC Sport. “[Last season] we were entertaining, we were getting crosses into the box, we had Swanson’s directness and dribbling skills. We’ve not got that just now.

“But when you put in Scotty Robertson, Prince Buaben, Morgaro Gomis and David Robertson, you’ll get 100% effort,” he continued. “But credit to them, they are in and it is up to Conway and Swanson to try to get back in the team now.”
