A Lovely Shade Of Tangerine

Things are really hotting-up inside the BBC studios, as an episode of ‘A Question Of Sport’ enters the final nail-biting round…..

Opposing team captains Ally McCoist and John Parrot are both determined now to lose, as Sue Barker begins to rattle off the next vital question……

Sue Barker: ‘What colour do Scottish Premier League Side Dun…

BUZZ

(Ally McCoist slams down on his buzzer before she’s completely finished the question.)

Ally McCoist: ‘Tangerine

He’s right and John Parrot knows it!

The whole question was obviously going to be ‘What colour do Scottish Premier League side Dundee United play in’, but if that wasn’t a easy enough, Ally was even told before the question that the answer began with the letter ‘T’..it must be TANGERINE.

It was a dangerous gamble that McCoist had taken by pre-empting the rest of the question, but it was a gamble that eventually won him the game. Although even I could have predicted where that question was going, but never in my life would I have predicted what Sue Barker was going to say next…

Sue Barker Speaks…

Sue Barker: ‘And it’s a lovely shade of Tangerine.

That’s what she said, word for word. ‘It’s a lovely shade of Tangerine’. Of course she was completely right…it is a lovely shade of Tangerine, but I never took Sue Barker as a potential celebrity United fan. She must surely join the long list of self-confessed Celebrity Arabs, which already includes Lorraine Kelly and….erm…..um…..Lorraine Kelly?!?!?!?

Tangerine Jerseys

After hearing her say that on National television I was really tempted to chip in and purchase her a Tangerine jersey, so that she could admire its wonderful colour on a daily basis, or to at least write to her and ask how long she had been a closet Arab….

After the initial shock had subsided and I had recovered from the surprise of hearing someone make a reference to Dundee United on the BBC without mentioning Jim McLean assulting a certain BBC interviewer in the same sentence, I realised how ridiculous it would have been for me to send a United jersey through the post.

Afterall, how could you trust your postman not to steal the United jersey all for himself…..because it is such A Lovely Shade Of Tangerine!!!!
